Here it is:

My husband blames Valentine's Day for all of the birthdays we celebrate it November.  He can't be too far off.  Nine months ago there was definitely something in the air.  Needless to say, I make a LOT of birthday cards in November.  The birthday card I am sharing today is for my cousin-in-law.  I followed the Peachy Keen sketch challenge.

Glitter is for LIFE!

I am so excited to post my card for this week's Peachy Keen Challenge because I think I have finally figured out how to use glitter. A few months ago, I found a glue stamp pad. I am new to this whole crafty thing, but I LOVE a little sparkle (let's face it A LOT of sparkle). I immediately purchased it, and thought it would be fantastic. I couldn't wait to take it home and test it out.  Unfortunately, the glitter did NOT stay on very well, but my card was too cute not to send. So, I glittered bombed someone, but I promised myself that I would not let that happen again.  I took to the internet to find a resolution. I tried a couple of different things and did not have success. Today, I stamped the Happy Halloween with my glue stamp pad, and sprinkled glitter on it.  I then sprayed it with a clear glossy acrylic spray paint that I I bought at Hobby Lobby, and let it dry. The glitter stuck! SUCCESS!  Now, if you could only tell from the photo...

Last week was release week for the Peachy Keen Stamp of the Month. I look forward to this time each month. Peachy Keen Stamps - Box it Up!

Wow!  Where has this week gone?  I actually have had my project done for a few days, but I've been procrastinating the blog posting.  I spent the weekend crafting with my sister.  She has so much to teach me, and we have such a great time.   I've been working on a lot of Halloween stuff lately because I'm afraid I'll be traveling a lot in October and I won't have time to get anything done.  For this challenge, I decided to make Halloween treat boxes for my coworkers.  I made eight different boxes, but I think my vampire with the argyle vest is my favorite.  Now, I just need to buy some treats to fill them.

Another Peachy Challenge

I'm cutting it down to the wire with this latest card.  I set out to make a card last night, but then I couldn't figure out how to incorporate my awesome Peachy Keen Stamps.  So, I'll post that one a little later once I get it finished.  Here is the challenge:

JUST CARDS :: POPPED UP :: PKC30
Create a card with an image or other product popped up! Accomplish this by using foam tape, foam squares, dimensional glue dots, or other means!!
  • Design must be new
  • Design must be a "popped" card
  • Link up by 8/15 - 11:59 pm EST
  • You don't need our stamps to play along, but only entries using Peachy Keen Stamps can earn Top Peach!

I've been wanting to make a little witch card, so I bought this file from the Silhouette Online Store.  I popped her up over some orange hemp.  I had a little black cat on the back of the broomstick, but it had a little incident.  I just decided to leave him off.  Otherwise, she turned out okay.  I'm still working on my stitching with the gelly roll pen.  I'm still not very good.  I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, but it is getting a little better. Enjoy!

Items Used:
Cute Witch from the Silhouette Store
My Creative Time All Around Halloween Stamp Set
Peachy Keen Wide-eyed Kids
White Gelly Roll Pen
Orange Hemp
Various Ribbons & Papers

Peachy Keen Challenges

Well, this is my first blog post.  I didn't really want to start a craft blog because I am way out of my element.  However, I decided to take a more active role in being more creative.  I am so incredibly left brained.  I don't think I even realized I had a more creative side until my older sister pushed me to exercise it.  You have been forewarned... I have no idea what I'm doing!!

This summer has me so ready for fall!  I don't know what is worse - the high temperatures or lack of rain.  I'm ready for sweaters, chili, and running in the afternoon.  I think that's why I keep making Halloween cards.  This week I completed three challenges.  Two were for the Peachy Keen August Release, and the other was for the regular Peachy Keen Challenge.

Peachy Challenge 29 :: Color Inspiration

COLOR INSPIRATION :: PKC29
  • Design must be new
  • Design must be creating using colors from the palette above
  • Link up by 8/8 - 11:59 pm EST
  • You don't need our stamps to play along, but only entries using Peachy Keen Stamps can earn Top Peach!
  • Sorry, any entry that does not meet the guidelines for this challenge will be automatically removed without notice.
I had a hard time deciding what I was going to do, but a good friend of mine has an upcoming birthday.  I decided to make her a card.

Item's Used:
MCT All Around Birthday Time Sentiment
Create-a-Critter Cricut Cartridge for Dog
Peachy Keen Happy Go Lucky Dog Face Assortment
Embossing Folder
Brown & Red Gelly Roll Pens

The next challenge I participated in was a little more difficult for me.  I had to have a card with a funny fold, and I had to use three different patterned papers.  This seemed like it would be a little more chaotic, but I think it turned out alright.  If I had to do it all over, I would probably play with the spider colors a little more.

Items Used:
Lori Whitlock's 3D Swing Card Basic
Peachy Keen/Cottage Cutz Fuzzy Spider Die
Sizzix BigKick
Halloween Paper from Hobby Lobby
Black & White Twine
White, Black & Orange Gelly Roll Pens

Lastly, I participated in a sketch challenge.  I had delusions of grandeur of how this card might turn out.  I decided to change the elaborate scene in my head to a simple ghost card.  He turned out pretty cute thanks to the Peachy Keen face stamp I used.

Items used:
Halloween Ribbon from Hobby Lobby
Ghost from Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge
Bat & Moon from Lettering Delights Spooky Soiree
Sentiment : MCT Small Talk
MCT Teeny Tag Die

This is my first full challenge to participate in, and I actually won the grand prize.  How lucky does one need to be?  I am thankful for everyone at Peachy Keen for the opportunity to particpate in their lovely challenges that push me to be a little more create.  I am mostly thankful to my older sister, who has inspired me to push me beyond my limits.  I can't wait to create more!
